Men’s recruit: St. Augustine Prep junior defenseman/LSM Monticollo commits to Loyola

St. Augustine Prep rising junior defenseman/LSM Joe Adam Monticollo has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Loyola University.

College Choice:
Loyola University

Club Affiliation: SouthShore Lacrosse

Major lacrosse honors: All-Star at the Top 205 and an All-Star at King of the Hill Tournament in the summer of 2011.

Academic honors: Honor Roll for freshman and sophomore years.

What will you major in/study? Business and economics.

Why did you choose Loyola?
“I chose Loyola for a combination of reasons. I know I will receive an outstanding education in small classroom settings. Also, I really liked [head] coach [Charley] Toomey’s attitude and drive for his lacrosse team. They are headed towards big success.”

Other St. Augustine Prep recruits: Monticollo is the eighth Hermit to commit to a D1 school; others are Michael Sutton (midfielder, Penn State, junior), Joe Gigantiello (goalie, Denver, senior), Bill McMenamin, (FO/midfielder, Wagner College, senior), Pat McMenamin (attackman, Wagner College, senior), Tommy O’Neill (midfielder, Penn State, senior), Bryan Phillips (defenseman, Drexel, senior), Steve Pontrello (midfielder, North Carolina, senior).

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “Our goal is to win the Group B nonpublic state championship.”
