Germantown Academy rising senior attackman Billy Oppenheimer has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Quinnipiac University (CT).

Germantown Academy rising senior Billy Oppenheimer has committed to Quinnipiac
Oppenheimer was an Honorable Mention Inter-Ac League pick in 2011 when he collected 50 goals and 57 assists for a team that went 14-5. He plays club lacrosse for Rebel Elite.
Oppenheimer will follow a family tradition. His older brother, Jack, recently graduated from Quinnipiac where he finished with 80 career goals (sixth all-time).
“My brother’s told me a lot about the school, what he liked and felt comfortable with, and ultimately it just felt like a good fit,” Oppenheimer said. “I have been up there countless times.”
Oppenheimer plans to enroll in Quinnipiac’s well-regarded School of Communications.
“It’s not a huge school, but not too small,” he said.
Oppenheimer was a Philly Showcase Gait Fab 40 pick in 2009 and 2010 and this summer scored the winning goal in the Top 205 All-Star Game.
Oppenheimer is the third GA rising senior to commit to play college lacrosse. The others are Reid Weber (attackman, Lehigh) and Connor Crump (midfielder Amherst).
“We lost a lot of good seniors and that class had a lot of good leaders,” said Oppenheimer. “But we have a lot of younger guys that can follow in their footsteps and a lot of good players back. We have a good core; I am pretty excited for the season.”
Oppenheimer wished to thank GA head coach David Martin and Rebel coach Harry Sankey for their support.
