Recent Pennsbury graduate Taylor Hickman (attack) has made a commitment to play Division II lacrosse for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Hickman was a First Team Suburban One National Conference pick and led Pennsbury in scoring in 2011 with 48 goals. She helped the Falcons finish 11-7 and advance to the District 1 playoffs. Hickman played club lacrosse for Ultimate Goal.

While at IUP, Hickman plans to major in Communications Media.

“I already had my eyes on the school, and the fact that I could possibly play lacrosse there could make it better,” said Hickman. “I first liked the school just because of the distance. It wasn’t too far from home, but it wasn’t really close.

“Something about it just attracted me a lot right off the bat. I liked the campus, I liked the atmosphere, and it’s a good size.”

Hickman is excited to become part of the Crimson Hawks in the midst of their rise and improvement.

“I knew that they were an up and coming new program,” said Hickman. “In Division II, I knew that they had had a very successful season the past couple of years, so I knew that it was a developing program and that it could only get better.”

Hickman will be joining a young IUP team that went 11-7 in 2011 under coach Mindy Richmond. The Crimson Hawks graduate just one senior.

Hickman called the 2011 season a success for Pennsbury.

“It was the best season we’ve ever had,” said Hickman. “It was definitely the coaching and the girls that led us to being so successful.”

This summer, Hickman has been honing her skills in the hopes of making an immediate impact when she steps on the IUP field.

“I’m really just hoping to possibly start,” said Hickman. “I’ve been working so hard in the off-season, just training, one-on-one stuff, and I just hope it all pays off and I hopefully get some playing time.”
