Penn Charter rising senior goalie Jackson Tamasitis has committed to play Division I lacrosse at the US Military Academy at West Point.

Penn Charter's Jackson Tamasitis has committed to Army

Tamasitis was a Second Team Inter-Ac League selection in 2011 and helped lead the Quakers to a 12-11 season and a berth in the Inter-Ac Invitational semifinals. He plays club lacrosse for the Duke’s L.C.

Tamasitis was a Gait Fab 40 pick at the Philly Showcase in 2009 and 2010 and also was selected to play in the EPSLA Showcase in 2010 and 2011. He is an Honor student at Penn Charter.

“Army has been my top choice ever since I started the recruiting process,” Tamasitis said. “In looking for a college, I wanted something bigger than myself.

“I saw all the possibilities – not just lacrosse – and the military aspect at West Point provides the best in academics and leadership training in the world.

“I fell in love with it and it also gives me the chance to play Division I lacrosse. Coach (Joe) Alberici is a great guy and was an excellent host. I liked the staff and the players. It all seemed like the perfect fit.”

Tamasitis joins attackman Shane Carr (Yale) as Division I recruits at Penn Charter.

Tamasitis is also looking forward to the 2012 season. The Quakers lose several top players, but used underclassmen in key roles this year, especially on defense.

“We lost a lot of talent,” but we had injuries and some younger guys stepped in at defense and stepped up to play major roles,” he said. “I think we have a bright future and we should be a force to reckon with defensively.”

Tamasitis also wished to thank Penn Charter coach Pat McDonough and Duke’s L.C. coaches Ebe Helm and Jason Christmas as well as his goalie coaches Joe Donnelly Sr. and Joe Donnelly Jr., and coach Eric Gregg.
