Merion Mercy rising senior attack Bonnie McShane has committed to St. Joseph's

McShane collected 48 goals, 43 assists and 37 groundballs while helping the Bears (14-5) win their third straight Athletic Association of Catholic Academies (AACA) championship in 2011. She recently played on Team Philly at the Under Armour Underclassmen Games and was a Gait Fab 40 pick last fall at the Philly Showcase.

She plays club lacrosse for Brandywine Majors Girls Lacrosse Club.

McShane plans on majoring in Food Marketing at St. Joe’s.

“I got to high school right around the corner from St. Joes, so I was very familiar with the campus and could definitely picture myself at SJU,” she said. “It was a perfect fit for my goals, academically and athletically.

“When I met with Coach (Denise) Roessler, I felt comfortable and I liked her philosophy on the way she runs the program. I really look forward to playing for her.”

McShane expects the Bears to again be a favorite for the AACA title in 2012.

“Our team goal is to finish in first place and advance far into the District 1 playoffs and get a bid into the state playoffs,” she said. “We graduated four of our starters, but we have a lot of younger players who are definitely going to step up this season.”
