Locust Valley (N.Y.) rising senior attackman Chris Appell has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lehigh University.

Locust Valley rising senior attackman Chris Appell has committed to Lehigh

Appell was an All-Nassau County Academic pick in 2011 when he had 40 goals and 23 assists and helped the Falcons (10-7) advance to the County semifinals. He plays club lacrosse for “For the Love of the Game.”

Appell, a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society, plans to enter the business school at Lehigh.

The Mountain Hawks went 7-9 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League last year under head coach Kevin Cassese.

“Lehigh was an overall perfect fit for me due to its excellent academic reputation and its renowned business school as well as its perfect size and beautiful campus,” Appell said. “On my visit Coach Cassesse and Coach (Taylor) Wray as well as the rest of the athletic staff made me feel very comfortable and made it an easy decision to choose Lehigh.”

Appell is optimistic that Locust Valley will be a playoff contender again next year.

“My teammates and I have been waiting since we were in elementary school to compete as seniors in our community,” he said.
