Bridgewater-Raritan (N.J.) rising senior midfielder John Longordo, who plays club lacrosse for Twist, has committed to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Delaware.

Bridgewater-Raritan rising senior midfielder John Longordo (Twist Lacrosse) has committed to Delaware

Longordo helped lead the Panthers to the New Jersey Tournament of Champions, Group IV and Somerset county titles this year, scoring 22. Bridgewater-Raritan went 21-2 and was ranked in the top 20 by Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse, ESPN RISE, LaxPower, and MaxPreps.

Longordo is currently playing in the National Lacrosse Classic in Germantown, Md. for Team Jersey.

Longordo plans to major in Engineering at Delaware, which won its second straight Colonial Athletic Association championship this year under the venerable Bob Shillinglaw..

“They have a strong engineering program as well as a strong lacrosse program, so it felt like a perfect fit,” Longordo said of Delaware. “Engineering was a big part of it, because that’s what I want to do later.”

Longordo had a fair amount of information about the Delaware lacrosse program before he even talked to the coaches thanks to teammate Tyler Barbarich, who will attend Delaware as a freshman this fall.

“He told me a lot about Delaware and really spoke highly of it,” Longordo said.

Longordo joins Conestoga attackman Connor Frisina as a Delaware recruit.

Good team chemistry is a necessary ingredient for success. Longordo’s tone exudes nothing but positive thoughts when he looks back at Bridgewater-Raritan’s blowout season.

“I loved all of my teammates,” Longordo said. “It was one of my most memorable seasons and I’m never going to forget those kids.”

The 2011 season was nearly a perfect year for Bridgewater-Raritan, so in 2012, Longordo doesn’t want to see much go differently.

“I look to have pretty much the same results, but this time go undefeated,” Longordo said.
