Unionville rising senior midfielder/attack Kris Abens had made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lehigh University.

Abens helped the Indians to a sixth-place finish (6-5) in the Ches-Mont League this year. Abens plays club lacrosse for SEPA.
Abensd, a High Honor Roll student, said she liked the campus and coaching staff at Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks finished 10-7 and made the Patriot League finals under third-year coach Jill Redfern (Ursinus College) in 2011.
“I really liked the campus and I met with coach Redfern at the rcruiting clinic and it just felt right,” Abens said. “I really like that the school is built on a hill. It’s pretty; and I also like the sports complex.
“My coach went there and she got me interested in the program. I like how it’s taken off under coach Redfern.”
Abens believes the Indians will be a much-improved team in 2012.
“We had lost 10 seniors from last year’s team so it was a tough season,” she said. “But we have a lot of juniors coming back and we got a lot of experience. I think we have a bunch of underclassmen that will do really well next year.”
