Lampe was a Second Team Inter-Ac League pick this year and was named the HEADstrong Foundation’s Nick Colleluori winner at the Rivalry Games in April.

Lampe, who played club lacrosse for Rebel Elite, He is undecided on a major, but is leaning toward Economics.

Amherst went 15-3 this year as a member of the well-regarded New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) and reached the third round of the NCAA tournament under first-year coach Jon Thompson. Lampe will join two Philly grads at Amherst, rising junior starting defenseman Arne Andersen (Shipley School) and rising junior midfielder Robbie Schwab (Harriton).

“I chose Amherst primarily for its excellent academics,” aid Lampe, who also was honored at EAS with the Team of 1977 Lacrosse Award. “During my visit, I sat in on a couple of classes and was very impressed with the teachers and students.

“Gabe Mann, the captain of the team, was a great host and I enjoyed meeting all of the other guys on the team. Also, I could sense that Coach Thompson was doing very good things with the lacrosse program, which he proved last season.”

Lampe said he enjoyed his time at Episcopal Academy.

“I loved being part of the Episcopal Academy lacrosse family for the past four years and I am going to miss playing with all those guys,” he said. “I am grateful for being able to improve under the reign of Coach Will Gibbs, (head coach) Andy Hayes, Bryan McDermott., and my club coach, Harry Sankey.

“Overall, I’m excited to start a new career at Amherst and play against some former teammates in the NESCAC.”
