Ridley senior Ryan O'Kane has committed to play lacrosse at Neumann

O’Kane was a Second Team Central League pick in 2011 and helped the Green Raiders finish 19-5 overall while making the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) tournament for the first time as the fifth seed out of District 1.

O’Kane, a team captain, had 38 goals, 18 assists and 34 groundballs this year. He also received the HEADstrong Foundations 2011 Nick Colleluori Award at the 2nd annual Rivalry Games in April. O’Kane also played for PYLA and Team Philly.

O’Kane is a four-year honor student at Ridley and is was Vice President of the Class of 2011.

He plans to major in Athletic Training at Neumann.

“I also chose Neumann because their lacrosse program is growing and developing,” said O’Kane. “They have upgraded their athletic facility, I like the coach (Roland D’Ortone) and I believe there will be an early opportunity for playing time.”

O’Kane said the Green Raiders enjoyed a successful season.

“The season overall was a huge success,” he said. “Making states was a huge accomplishment for Ridley.

“This year we really played as a team, everyone contributed to the success of the team, and it showed every night on the field. This team brought winning lacrosse back to Ridley High Schooles. As captain, I am proud of this team and what we accomplished.”
