Conestoga senior defenseman Andrew Visich has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Colorado College.

Visich was a two-year varsity member as a starter this year for the Pioneers, who on Saturday defeated St. Joseph’s Prep, 13-4, to claim their second straight Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) championship.

Conestoga's Andrew Visich, seen here after accepting his state championship medal on Saturday, has committed to Colorado College

The win capped a 25-1 season for Conestoga, which lost only to Haverford School, the nation’s top-ranked team. Conestoga is ranked No. 2 in several national polls.

“The past two seasons have been absolutely phenomenal,” Visich said. “We had our ups and downs over that time, but I couldn’t ask for any better of a sendoff than defending our title in front of our gracious fans.”

Visich, who played club lacrosse for Mesa Fresh 2011, was on the First Honor Roll all four years at Conestoga. He also was on the Student Executive Council.

At Colorado College, he will play for former Penn State assistant coach Guy Van Arsdale and assistant Michael Podgajny, a former standout at Ridley and then Notre Dame. The Tigers enjoyed a perfect 15-0 regular season and won their second straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship. They fell to Roanoke College, 25-5, in the first round of their first NCAA playoff game.

He plans on majoring in pre-med at Colorado College.

“I chose CC because of the truly unique opportunities that is has to offer as well as the beauty of the campus and surroundings of Colorado Springs,” said Visich.

“I would like to thank my coaches, (head coach) Brian Samson, Craig Gratton, Brody Bush, and John Hildebrand for all their hard work and keeping the great game fun for me.”
