District 1 boys’ lacrosse: Downingtown West takes 3rd place with 10-8 win over Pennsbury

Eric Rankel scored three goals and Dylan Ikkala added two goals and an assist as Downingtown West earned a 10-8 victory tonight over Pennsbury in the District 1 third-place consolation game at Radnor.

The Whippets (21-2) will play the District 3 champion (Hempfield or Manheim Township) in the first round of PIAA play Wednesday, while the Falcons will meet District 12 champion St. Joseph’s Prep in the opening round.

Brad Shenberger added a goal and an assist for the Whippets, who opened a 9-4 lead in the third period and held on for the win.

Calvin Hopkins had two goals and an assist for the Falcons while Andrew Probst and Ricky Jutkiewicz each scored twice.
