The top junior and sophomore prospects from the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association (EPSLA) will be on display for college recruiters on Thursday, June 16 at the third annual EPSLA Showcase at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.
The Showcase will consist of two games, one for sophomores and one for juniors. Each game will feature a public school team vs. a private school team. The Juniors game will be played first at 5:45 PM, and the Sophomores game will follow immediately afterward.
The four teams for The Showcase will be selected through a tryout at Episcopal Academy on June 5. Each team will carry 22 players and will be coached by a staff of EPSLA head coaches selected by their peers. The tryouts are tentatively scheduled for 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (sophomores) and 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. (juniors).

“The event will start a rigorous summer recruiting circuit that many of our players endure,” said EPSLA President and Episcopal Academy Head Coach Andy Hayes. ” We believe the best players in Eastern PA will be showing their talents on June 16th at Plymouth Whitemarsh,”
This event has been created in the spirit of the EPSLA’s mission statement “to promote the growth of lacrosse in Eastern Pennsylvania.” The EPSLA has historically organized an end-of-year tournament for all high school teams in the region.
With the sanctioning of boys’ lacrosse by the PIAA, the tournament is now in the hands of the state organization and is therefore limited to PIAA member schools – a configuration that excludes some of the best programs in the region.
The EPSLA’s Showcase provides all juniors and sophomores from EPSLA member schools to showcase their talents for college recruiters.
The first two EPSLA Showcases – held two years ago at Haverford College and last year at Penn’s Franklin Field – were attended by over 60 Division I, II, and III head coaches and assistants.
“This is a tremendous event and a lot of hard work and hours are put in by the EPSLA coaches at this busy time of the season to promote our area as a national hotbed for lacrosse talent,” said Neshaminy Head Coach Josh Hanlon. “This event is really all about the kids.”
