Merion Mercy and Villa Maria Academy will meet in the Athletic Association of Catholic Academies girls’ lacrosse championship game Thursday at St. Joseph’s University (6 p.m.) after winning semifinal contests Tuesday.
Host Merion Mercy (No. 2 seed) toppled third-seeded Mount St. Joseph, 12-6, as Bonnie McShane had three goals and three assists, Monica O’Hara scored three goals and Emily Corcoran had two goals and two assists. Caili Guilday made 14 saves in the goal.
Stevie Wells led the Mount with a pair of goals.
Meanwhile, top-seeded Villa Maria Academy downed Sacred Heart, 17-11, as Jenna Mertz collected four goals and three assists while Catherine Bendinelli and Elise Bendinelli each had three goals and one assist and Carolyn Griesser scored three times.
Stephanie Finley had six goals and two assists for Sacred Heart.
