Saturday’s girls’ roundup: Villa Maria clinches AACA regular-season title; Great Valey downs Conestoga

Catherne Bendinelli had three goals and three assists as Host Villa Maria Academy clinched the Athletic Association of Catholic Academies regular-season lacrosse title on Saturday with a 13-6 win over visiting Mount St. Joseph.

Villa Maria finished the regular season at 11-1 in the league and 14-3 overall, while Mount – which topped VMA, 8-7 in overtime on Tuesday – fell to 9-2 in the league and 11-4 overall.

Carolyn Griesser had three goals and an assist while Jenna Mertz (six draw controls), Erin Kelly and Elise Bendinelli each added two goals and an assist. Kerry Schubert made six saves.

Olivia Gannon had three goals to lead the Mount

Great Valley 12, Conestoga 7

Sara McBride had four goals and an assist and Ali Karwoski scored four goals while Jenna Morris made eight saves to lead the Patriots to a key non-league win.

Mehan McGillis paced the Pioneers with three goals and an assist.

Radnor 18, Downingtown West 8

Taryn Deck scored four goals and added a pair of assists and Kristen Norden had three goals and two assists to spark the Red Raiders to the non-league win.

Jillian Sanders had four goals and Eva Winiarski added three goals and an assist for the Whippets.

Downingtown East 21, Merion Mercy 7

Emily Solenberger collected six goals and three assists and McKenzie Rafferty fired in five goals to pace the Cougars to the non-league win.

Baldwin 22, Sacred Heart 11

Sloan Warren collected six goals, four assists, three draw controls and three groundballs while Arden Simone ( 3g, 3a, 5gb, 4 forced turnovers, Hilary Gray ( 3g, 5dc, 3gb) and Ali Thaler (3g, 6gb, 3dc, 2ft) all enjoyed big days to help the Bears roll to the Inter-Ac League win.

Stephanie Finley had four goals and four assists and Kara Shields added a hat trick for Sacred Heart.

Garnet Valley 20, West Chester East 9

Halley Barnes had seven goals and an assist, Natalie Long scored four goals s and AnnaElise Morello contributed two goals and seven assists as the Jaguars claimed the non-league win.

Ridley 9, Methacton 7

Lacey Doubet and Ellen Udovich each had two goals and an assist for the Green Raiders in the non-league win.
