Katie Samson girls’ roundup: Springfield-D tops Notre Dame; EA downs Conestoga, Harriton edges Unionville

Six players combined for all the Springfield-Delco scoring as the Cougars defeated Notre Dame Academy, 16-10, Saturday in one of the marquee matchups at the 11th annual Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival at Radnor High.

Aly Gormley, Lauren Notofrancesco and Maddy Lynch each had three goals and an assist while Alex Poplawski scored three goals, Nathalie Basunga added two goals and four assists and Courtney Kennedy had two goals and one assist for Springfield-Delco. The Cougars – No. 5 in the PA Media Rankings – improved to 10-2 while dropping the second-ranked Irish to 8-3.

Carlianne McCabe led Notre Dame with four goals and Nora McCallion scored twice.

Episcopal Academy 13, Conestoga 9

Blake McHugh and Ali Singley each scored three goals to lead EA to the victory.

Meghan McGillis had four goals and an assist for Conestoga.

Harriton 11, Unionville 10

Caleigh Foust (four goals, five groundballs) scored while falling down with 1:24 to play as the Rams defeated the Indians in one of the most exciting games of the day.

Carli Sukonik added three goals, an assist and six draw controls for Harriton while Jackie Marshall made 13 saves.

Annabeth Donovan had two goals and an assist to lead Unionville.

Agnes Irwin 16, Penncrest 9

Campbell Crochiere collected five goals, an assist, eight draw controls and six groundballs while Chloe Chou added three goals, three assists and two draw controls for the Owls in the win.

Christy Bond scored four goals and Haley Altus added a pair for Penncrest.

Henderson 10, Germantown Friends 4

Katelyn Fay had four goals and two assists and reached the 200-goal career mark to lead the Warriors to the victory. Katie O’Donnell added three goals and three assists.

Abington 21, Shipley 8

Meredith Cox fired in six goals and Molly Seefried collected five goals and six assists and Carli Fitzgerald had four goals and one assist for the Ghosts in the easy win.

Avery Safford scored four goals and Brie Blumenthal added three for Shipley.

Boyertown 16, Friends’ Central 7

Boyertown scored all nine second-half goals to topple the Phoenix as Rachel Engler scored four goals and Kelly Furman added two goals and five assists while Lindsay Clinton made 12 saves.

Emma Dahle had three goals and two assists for Friends’ Central.

Garnet Valley 20, Baldwin School 8

Halley Barnes had six goals and an assist and AnneElise Morello added three goals and four assists for Garnet Valley.

Sloan Warren led Baldwin with three goals.

Villa Maria Academy 13, Upper Dublin 7

Jenna Mertz had four goals and an assist while Catherine Bendinelli and Elise Bendinelli each fired in three goals for the Hurricanes.

Brooke Callahan led Upper Dublin with two goals and an assist and Kelly Cross added two goals.

Merion Mercy 14, Methacton 4

Bonnie McShane had six goals and an assist and Emily Corcoran added three goals and two assists for Merion

Danielle Schanbacher, Abby Devlin, Sara Watro and Anna Marie Warrington each scored for Methacton.


Haverford High 18, Germantown Academy 7

Jill Root had seven goals and an assist and Katrina Geiger scored five goals and added one assist for the Fords in the easy victory.
Brooke Kiley scored four goals for GA.

Penn Charter 13, Hill School 8

Katherine Higgins and Blaine Steinberg each scored four goals to lead the Quakers to the win.

Megan Kelly led Hill with five goals.
