Tuesday’s boys’ high school roundup: Ridley, Radnor, Garnet Valley, Conestoga claim Central League win

Kelton Heverly scored two goals and Rildey’s defense excelled today as the Green Raiders claimed a 7-2 victory over Haverford High in Central League boys’ lacrosse.

Kevin Garling added a goal and two assists for Ridley while Kyle Bush had a goal and an assist. Matt Ward, Nick Eufrasio, Greg Cortes and John Saunders paced the defense as the Raiders improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Ridley has yielded just nine goals all year.

Shawn Kane and Mike Leyden scored for the Fords.

Radnor 8, Lower Merion 7

Ben Junior had three goals and Mike Barnes added a pair as the Red Raiders edged the Aces.

Craig Markman led Lower Merion with two goals and two assists and Tony Fisher scored twice while Daniel Buckman had a goal and an assist. Eli Newschaffer had a big game in goal with 20 saves.

Garnet Valley 18, Strath Haven 3

Sophomore Robert Raucci set a school record with nine goals as the Jaguars cruised to the Central League win.

Joseph Taulane added a goal and four assists while Steve Smyrl and Jules Raucci each scored two goals.

Conestoga 18, Upper Darby 0

The Pioneers improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Central League with the shutout victory. Charlie Hildebrand had two goals and five groundballs, Jake Scott scored twice, Tyler Brooke had a goal and two assists and Kyle Morrison had five assists.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 20, Upper Moreland 2

Colin Joka pumped in five gals and Andrew Cox added four for the Colonials in the Suburban One American Conference win.

Downingtown West 12, Henderson 7

Eric Rankel collected five goals and Tyler McWIlliams added three goals and an assist as the Whippets claimed the Ches-Mont League win.
