Wednesday’s Philly boys’ high school roundup: CB East edges Pennsbury in OT

Warren Kuhn (three goals) scored in overtime to give visiting Central Bucks East a 7-6 non-conference triumph over Pennbsury today in a boys’ lacrosse game involving two Suburban One powers.

CB East took a 4-2 lead into the first half and extended it to 6-2 in the third period. With five minutes remaining in the quarter, the Pennsbury offense finally came to life by scoring three unanswered goals in the last five minutes of the quarter.

With only 4:09 left in the game, Sean Heilferty found Josh Caven for the tying goal. The last four minutes of the game went back and forth with neither team able to generate anything on offense and the game went into overtime.

Kuhn won it after scooping a groundball following a faceoff.

Matt Brodzik added two goals for CB East (2-1). Evan Caterson and Ricky Jutkiewicz each scored twice for the Falcons (2-1).

Penn Charter 12, Chestnut Hill Academy 4

Joey Sankey had five goals and one assist to lead Penn Charter (4-0) to the non-league victory.

Boyertown 16, Pope John Paul II 0

Matt Salvetti had five goals and two assists and Tyler Fuhrman had five goals and one assist to help the Bears shut out PJP.

Lansdale Catholic 15, Norristown 6

Rich Walsh had four goals and two assists as well as eight groundballs while Kevin Edling added three goals and two assists and Dan McMenamin added three goals and an assist to lead the Crusaders (1-1).

Methacton 12, Pottsgrove 3

Brian Vawter and Matt Brasher led the Warriors with four goals each while Clay Sobocinski added two goals and two assists in the PAC-10 win.

Allentown Central Catholic 9, Souderton 8

Kevin Galyas had four goals and two assists as ACC earned a tight win over Souderton.

J.P. Carroll scored three goals for the Indians.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 16, Archbishop Wood 6

Gryphin Kelly had five goals and won 19 of 21 face-offs while Colin Joka netted four goals to lead the Colonials.

Chandler Grasela led Wood with three goals.

Spring-Ford 17, Phoenixville 3

Paul Major and Chris Bock each scored six goals for the Rams in the PAC-10 win.
