Kathleen Smart (Archbishop Wood), a sophomore goalie on The University of Scranton women’s lacrosse team, picked up two honors recently.
She was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week and the university’s athlete of the week for the period ending Sunday, March 6.
Smart was selected for both awards for her performance in the Royals’ season-opening 10-4 loss to Haverford College on Wednesday, March 2, at Fitzpatrick Field. She played the entire 60 minutes in goal and tied her career-high with 10 saves. Her previous career-high of 10 saves came in an 8-6 loss to Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, on April 29, 2010.
