Wednesday’s men’s roundup: Ursinus tops Wesley, Haverford College wins

It was all systems go for the Ursinus College men’s lacrosse team on Wednesday afternoon, as the Bears scored three goals in every period in a 12-3 defeat of Wesley in non-conference play.

Ursinus junior midfielder Jeff Ocampo continued his hot start as he scored five goals in the win, pushing his season total to eight. Ocampo scored all five of his goals in the first half as the Bears had as much as an 11 goal lead.

Ursinus (2-0) scored the first three goals of the game, starting with a goal from junior midfielder Mike Alfieri with 7:50 left in the first period on an assist from sophomore attack Taylor Allen.

Freshmen Nile Thompson (Lower Merion) and Jordan McGinty (Bishop Shanahan) each scored for Ursinus and freshman midfielder Shawn Caven (Pennsbury) was 12-for-16 on face-offs on the day, also picking up a team-best seven ground balls. In goal, sophomore Josh Baker had nine saves.

Wesley got 19 saves from goalkeeper Sean Mathews (Pennsbury) and a goal and an assist from Justin D’Alonzo (Interboro). Eric Crumbock (Harry S Truman) added a goal.

Haverford College 9, Fairleigh Dickinson 6

The eighth-ranked Fords (2-1) got three goals from Nick Schoen and a pair from Max Hjelm (Conestoga). FDU (1-1) received 10 saves from freshman goalie Dino Vitale (Hatboro-Horsham).

Franklin & Marshall 15, Gwynedd Mercy College 3

Kevim Kilpatrick (Salesianum School) scored once for F&M (2-1) in the rout. Roy Bakeoven (Archbishop Ryan), Mason Risner and Nick Hummel each scored for GMC (0-2).

Gettysburg 6, Goucher 4

Royr Averett (Council Rock North) scored three goals for Goucher while Matt Lynch (La Salle) added an assist.

Lynchburg 10, Marywood 1

Dylan Hoff (Downingtown East) scored twice and defenseman Joe Lisicky (Unionville) had three caused turnovers and two groundballs for Lynchburg (2-1).
