Summit (N.J.) junior attack/midfielder Megan Paytas has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lehigh University.

Summit (N.J.) junior Megan Paytas has committed to Lehigh

Paytas was a Second Team All-Union County and All-North Jersey pick last year for a team that went 16-4. She plays club lacrosse for STEPS.

“I chose Lehigh because it’s a great school both academically and athletically,” said Paytas. “I knew as soon as I visited that it was the perfect fit for me and it had everything that I was looking for in a school – strong academics and a competitive lacrosse program.”

Lehigh, coached by Ursinus alum Jill Redfern, reached the finals of the Patriots League playoffs last year and finished 14-4.

“The coaches are so knowledgeable and easy to talk to and the girls on the team were so nice and had nothing but amazing things to say about the school and the coaching staff,” said Paytas. “I can’t wait to be a part of their program.”

Summit has won the past two Union County championships and is expected to be a state contender in 2011.

“We have high expectations for this season and hope to go far in the State tournament,” said Paytas.
