Men’s recruit: Haverford High senior LSM Lasprogata commits to new D1 program Mercer (Ga.)

Haverford High senior long stick midfielder Joe Lasprogata has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Mercer University (GA).

Haverford High senior Joe Lasprogata has committed to Mercer

Lasprogata intends to study Biology with hopes of going to Pharmacy school.

“I liked the fact that it was a small liberal arts institution and that they have their own school of Pharmacy,” Lasprogata said. “Being in Georgia, it’s nice to get away but it’s only a plane ride (from home).”

The lacrosse program at Mercer is breaking barriers. The Bears are in their first year of existence and the first Division I intercollegiate men’s lacrosse program in Georgia.

“Instead of being part of an established team I get to help build a team,” Lasprogata said.

Lasprogata also considered St. John’s, Susquehanna and Franklin and Marshall.

He is the second Haverford High senior to commit to play college lacrosse. Earlier, face-off specialist/midfielder Nick Chambers committed to play for Widener.

Lasprogata is confident his Fords will be a much-improved team in the Central League and challenge for a playoff berth.

“We almost have the same team as last year,” said Lasprogata. “We only lost three seniors. Everyone has been working hard, we will definitely be successful.”
