Kingsway (N.J.) senior midfielder Frank Magazu, who plays for Rebel Elite club, has made a verbal commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Virginia Wesleyan College.

Kingsway midfielder Frank Magazu has committed to Virginia Wesleyan

Magazu’s garnered First Team All-Olympic Conference honors for his 29-goal performance in 2010, helping the Dragons finish 12-4 and win the Gloucester County crown.

The location of Virginia Wesleyan’s campus (Norfolk) was just right for Magazu.

“I wanted to get away but not too far, it’s only four hours away,” he said. “I was looking for a smaller school and it helps having nice weather and Virginia Beach nearby.”

Magazu will be joined by teammate Mike Moran at Virginia Wesleyan, which went 8-8 last year and plays in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The twosome combined to score more than 60 goals last year for the Dragons.

Magazu believes Kingsway is capable of doing some special things.

“This will probably be the best year our team has ever had. Most of us have been together since the fourth grade,” he said. “There are a lot of weapons on this team.”

Magazu has Olympic conference foe Shawnee High School circled on the upcoming schedule. Shawnee defeated Kingsway three times last season.

Magazu wished thank Rebel Elite head coach Harry Sankey for helping him become a better player and helping in the recruiting process.
