Sun Valley senior attackman Kyle Gillam has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Eastern University.
Gillam was an Honorable Mention Ches-Mont League selection last year, scoring 43 goals. He plays club lacrosse for Braveheart.
“Eastern was the best fit for me because of the level of lacrosse and the location,” said Gillam.
Gillam, who liked the short distance to Eastern’s campus, also considered Gwynedd-Mercy College, Roanoke College, and King’s College.
“Coach Brandon Childs is a huge reason why I chose Eastern,” Gillam said. “He’s a great coach and I feel I have a good chance of playing early on.”
Childs led the Eagles to an 11-5 record and a second-place finish in the Middle Atlantic Conference last year in his second season.
Gillam is the third Philly player to make a verbal commitment to Eastern. Gillam will be joined by Great Valley’s Nick DiPiano (goalie) and Mathacton’s Cody Ridgway (attackman).
Gillam will be relied upon heavily as the Vanguards look to improve on their 9-9 record from last year.
“We have room for improvement,” he said, “and even though we’ve lost four players we have younger kids who have come in and have been working hard.”
