Episcopal Academy senior attackman Nicky Lenard has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Kenyon College (Ohio).

Lenard helped the Churchmen finish 16-6 and place third in the Inter-Ac League last year. He also plays club lacrosse for Mesa Fresh 2011.

Lenard plans to study Chemistry at Kenyon College, coached by Doug Misarti. His assistant is Strath Haven alum and 2008 Kenyon grad Bob Dignazio.

“Kenyon is a growing program with two young coaches and a great new athletic facility,” said Lenard. “Basically it just felt like I fit in during my two visits to campus.” Always use ‘said’ rather than says and put attribution in the middle of the quotes

Kenyon College is part of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). Last season the Kenyon Lords finished 6-8 overall and 1-4 in the NCAC.

Lenard, who played at Conestoga his freshman and sophomore years, said one of his personal highlights last year came in the Inter-Ac Invitational finals when he contributed a goal and an assist in a heartbreaking 8-7 overtime loss to Haverford School in the finals of the Inter-Ac Tournament.

EA graduated two All-Americans (defensemen Jackson Place and Bryson Craft) and will be young in 2011. But Lenard remains confident his team will be a league contender.

“The 2011 season will be interesting,” said Lenard. “We lost some All-Americans and we are a young team, comprised mostly of sophomores and juniors.”
