Upper Dublin senior attackman Willy Beury has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Franklin & Marshall College.

Upper Dublin's Willy Beury has committed to Franklin & Marshall

Beury was a Second Team Suburban One American Conference pick last year for the Cardinals, helping them qualify for the District 1 playoffs. Beury plays club lacrosse for LB3.

At F&M, Beury will join his brother, Scott, a sophomore defenseman who played in 11 games last year as a freshman.

“I didn’t know anything about the school and then my brother got in, so I went up last year and really liked the campus,” Beury said, “Also, the guys in the team were great.”

Beury will play for F&M coach Todd Cavallaro, a former Penn assistant.

“Coach Cavs is a cool guy and I just fell in love with the whole school,” said Beury, who has not chosen a major but is considering psychology.

Beury is the second Philly senior to commit to F&M; Strath Haven defenseman Drew Goff was the first.

Beury is the second Upper Dublin player to commit to play college lacrosse. Recently, long stick midfielder John Quici committed to Division II power Mercyhurst College.

Beury is confident the Cardinals will challenge in the American Conference. Upper Dublin won the league title in 2008 and 2009.

“Our whole defense is returning, along with our goalie so we should be real strong on defense,” he said. “We have a bunch of guys working hard on offense , so we should score a lot of goals. We should have a very good team this year.”
