Chaminade (N.Y.) junior midfielder Paul Urbank has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Delaware.
“I chose Delaware for several reasons,” he said. “The coaching staff is one of the best around and they always play against a number of competitive opponents.
“Also the school was a great fit for me academically, the team was very welcoming and the facilities were awesome.”
The Blue Hens are coached by 33-year mentor Bob Shillinglaw, who guided Delaware to the Colonial Athletic Association crown and an NCAA berth last year.
Urbank also considered Cornell, Villanova, Notre Dame, Fairfield, Lehigh and Bryant. He plays club lacrosse for the Long Island Express.
Chaminade went 14-5 last year, falling to St. Anthony’s, 9-8, in overtime in the CHSAA Class AAA championship game. The two powers should again battle for the title in 2011.
