Manheim Township senior midfielder Mark Stratton has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Ursinus College.

Manheim Township's Mark Stratton has committed to Ursinus

Stratton was an All-District 3 and Lancaster Lebanon League pick last year for the Blue Streaks, who went 22-5 and reached the semifinals of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) tournament for the second straight year.

Stratton plans to major in History at Urisinus, coached by Jamie Steele.

“I choose Ursinus because of the location,” said Stratton, a consistent Honor Roll student. “I also chose it because it is a great academic school, and I like what Coach Steele is doing there.”

Stratton said Manheim Township expects to challenge for a state medal this year. The Blue Streaks have made the state semis in each of the past three years and feature three Division I signees: midfielder Rob Wertz and attackman Quint Miller (Jacksonville) and attackman Alex Bradbury (Bucknell); and one Division II signee, defenseman Michael Rivera. The team also has a new coach, former UMBC great and current Philadelphia Wing Kyle Wimer.

“My expectations for this season are pretty high,” Stratton said. “I would like to make a run at states. I feel like we have the talent to do that this year.”
