Radnor senior attackman Tyler Murkley has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Lynchburg College.

Murkley was a contributor on a Red Raiders team that went 13-9 last year and reached the District 1 quarterfinals. He played club lacrosse for Seven Nations and LB3 and also was a member of La Salle’s 2009 state championship squad before transferring to Radnor in 2010.

Murkley plans to major in Business Administration and minor in Sports Management.

“I choose Lynchburg because everything there was a perfect fit for me,” he said. “I liked coach (Steve) Koudelka and coach (Max) Silberlicht (graduate assistant) their tradition and commitment and their will to win.

“When I visited the campus it just all clicked; the team, the academics and the students.”

Lynchburg went 13-5 last year, falling to Roanoke in the Old Dominion Conference title game.

Murkley is one of three Radnor seniors to commit to Division III colleges this week; the others are defenseman Jeff Michaelson (Merchant Marine Academy) and midfielder Charlie Rubin (Tufts). Also, senior attackman Jeff Puckette has committed to Penn.

“I expect us to be very competitive in the Central League,” Murkley said. “We are returning a strong core from last year’s team and are looking forward to a great season.”

Murkley also wished to thank his high school and club coaches, especially Radnor head coach John Begier, for all their support.
