Men’s recruit: Penn Charter senior attackman Grabowski commits to Williams College

Penn Charter senior attackman Andy Grabowski has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Williams College (Mass.).

Penn Charter's Andy Grabowski will play at Williams College

Grabowski had 34 goals and 24 assists last year for the Quakers and was an Honorable Mention Inter-Ac League pick. He plays club lacrosse for LB3.

The Ephs went 5-11 last year under coach George McCormack and reached the semifinals of the rugged New England Small College Athletic Conference. Grabowski will join two Philly grads at Williams, junior attackman Sam Hargroive (the team’s top scorer in 2010) and sophomore midfielder Colton Growney.

Grabowski, a National Merit Scholar, plans to major in Pre-Med.

“I chose Williams for its high academic reputation and great lacrosse program, Grabowski said. “I started off looking at the NESCAC and Ivy League schools.

“When I took my visit to Williams, coach McCormack and coach (Kevin) Kiley made me feel at home. I was able to see a practice and I got along well with the entire team. I loved being in Williamstown and the surrounding mountains.”

Grabowski has high expectations for the 2011 season. The team has several other players headed to play college lacrosse: attackman Joey Sankey (North Carolina) and midfielder Tyler White (Dickinson)

“Our team has a lot of senior leadership this year, along with plenty of talent from all of the other classes as well,” he said, “I have high expectations for the PC team this year and definitely think we can be in contention for an Inter-Ac championship.”

Grabowski wished to thank his coaches at LB3, J.P., Liam and John Banks, and Penn Charter coach Pat McDonough, as well as his teammates at LB3 and Penn Charter, and his family.
