North Penn senior defender Carly Ball has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division II lacrosse at Bloomsburg University.
Ball was a key player for the Maidens in 2010, when they went 20-4 and won the Suburban One Continental Conference title and advanced to states after placing seventh in the District 1 tourney.
Ball also plays club lacrosse for Ultimate Goal.
She chose Bloomsburg because of the campus. “Its somewhere I could see myself,” she said.
Fourth year Huskies coach Leigh Quigley Carr (Methacton) has led the Huskies to three PSAC playoff appearances. She was also named the 2009 PSAC Eastern Division Coach of the Year.
“Coach Carr is great and was extremely helpful throughout the whole process,” Ball said. “I got along really well with her and with the girls on the team. They reminded me a lot of the girls on my high school team.”
Ball, an honor roll student, plans to major in accounting or education. “I took an accounting class last year and this year and I really liked it,” she said. “Also my mom and brother are accountants, so they encouraged me to look into the field.”
Ball has high hopes for North Penn in 2011. The Maidens have reached the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament the past two years and have won four straight Suburban One crowns.
“Our team is looking really well this year. I am extremely excited for our upcoming season,” said Ball. “Hopefully we will make it farther than we ever have.”
