Rego was a contributor last year on a team that shared the Inter-Ac League championship and went 20-4 while finishing as the No. 2 ranked team in Pennsylvania and fifth in the nation, according to Lacrosse Magazine.

Rego is the third junior member of the Fords to commit to Georgetown; the other two are defensemen and brothers Connor and Warner Bailey. Two other juniors have committed to Division I colleges: midfielders Will McNamara (Virginia) and Sam Rohr (Penn).

Also, 11 Haverford School seniors have committed to Division I schools.

Rego, who also considered Duke, Johns Hopkins, Penn and Brown, hopes to study in the McDonough School of Business.

“When I met the Georgetown coaches (Dave) Urick, (Matt) Rienzo and (Scott) and visited the campus, I knew that was the place for me,” he said. “Georgetown has the perfect blend of academic and athletic excellence.”

Rego has also played club lacrosse for Springfield A.A, Ashbee, Penn Star’s 2008 undefeated team, Mesa Fresh 2012 and the Duke’s Lacrosse Club.

Rego was also chosen to participate in the Philly Showcase Fab Forty Sophomore and Junior Teams, Nike Blue Chip 2009, 2010 and Fall 2010 Teams and Team Philly 2010.

Besides Lacrosse, Rego played on the Fords’ Inter-Ac championship football teams in 2009 and 2010. He also wrestles and placed fourth at the state Independent Schools championships while qualifying for Nationals in his sophomore year.

When he is not playing sports, Rego is also involved in his third year with The Notables, A capella singing group which performs over a hundred performance a year, here and abroad. He also has participated in The Haverford School Musicals, Guys and Dolls, the Damn Yankees and he will be performing in this year’s production of Urinetown.

Rego wishes to thank his lacrosse coaches at The Haverford School, head coach John Nostrant, and assistants Mark Petrone, Travis Loving, Paul O’Grady and Dave Metzbower, Mesa coaches Rob Lord, Peter Rohr and Marty McGregor, the Duke’s coaches and his parents.
