Haverford High junior midfielder Katrina Geiger has committed to play Division I lacrosse at Loyola College.

Haverford High's Katrina Geiger has committed to Loyola

Geiger was a First Team Central League pick in 2010, collecting 77 and 25 assists. Geiger played for the Philly team at the Under Armour Underclassmen Games and on the Philly 1 squad at the National Tournament last year.

She plays club lacrosse for SEPA, and also plays varsity soccer and basketball at Haverford. In two years of high school play, she has 112 scholastic goals.

Geiger is the second Philly junior to commit to Loyola and coach Jen Adams in the past few days; Archbishop Carroll midfielder Maddy Lesher also has committed to the Greyhounds. Lesher’s senior teammate at Carroll, midfielder Hannah Schmitt committed to Loyola last year.

Geiger, an Honor Roll student, plans to major in education and is leaning towrd Elementary Education.

“I thought the campus was beautiful and the coaches are very nice,” she said. “It’s a small school and like that. It’s kind of near the city, but I don’t feel it’s a city school. It’s not too far from home.

“Obviously, Loyola has a great lacrosse program and (coach) Jen Adams herself is an unbelievable player and I only hope she can make me into an unbelievable player.”

Geiger is the daughter of former Temple great and current Springfield-Delco assistant Kathleen Geiger.

“I decided to play lacrosse, but she has helped me tremendously throughout my lacrosse experience,” said Katrina. “I can only thank her.”
