Registration soon will be ending for the 18th Annual Philadelphia Lacrosse Association (PLA) Golf Outing Oct. 11 at Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley.

Tee-off (shotgun start) is at 12:30 p.m. with an awards banquet (cocktail reception, hors d’oeurves, auction, raffle) to follow at 5:45 p.m. Buffet dinner is from 6:30-8 p.m.

The outing will support the PLA’s mission of building new lacrosse programs in the southeastern PA area. In addition to providing continued support for the PIAA-sanctioned Philadelphia Public School League and the Philadelphia School District’s Middle Grades Program, the golf outing proceeds will help other new youth and high school programs in the region.

Last year’s PLA Golf Classic at Philmont involved 120 participants, 28 individual and corporate sponsors and raised over $16,000. The proceeds enabled the PLA to support the first year of PIAA Public Lacrosse League in Philadelphia, which featured 12 high school teams (six boys, six girls).

Working closely with the Philadelphia School District and the Black Women in Sports Foundation, the PLA was able to fund 95 percent of the equipment and goals for all of the teams in the City through new purchases and by funneling donated equipment.

Finally, the proceeds also helped the PLA maintain our web site as a portal for lacrosse in the region (www.palacrosse.com).
