The HEADstrong Foundation has released the schedule for the 4th Annual Nick Colleluori Classic Oct. 9-10 at Ridley High.

Twenty teams will compete in the Men’s Fall Ball tourney that raises money for blood cancer research and awareness and family assistance. The tournament is named after the founder of HEADstrong, Ridley grad Nick Colleluori, who passed away four years ago after a battle against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma while a student-athlete at Hofstra University.

The tourney is split up into a Division 1 field (Saturday) and a Division II/III field (Sunday).

Philly teams St. Joseph’s, Lehigh and Villanova will be joined by Hofstra, Towson, Cornell, Mount St. Mary’s, Fairfield, Detroit Mercy and Presbyterian on Saturday.

On Sunday, the field features many Philyl squads – Division II Chestnut Hill College as well as Division III programs Cabrini, Neumann, Penn State Abington, Ursinus, Eastern, Widener and Immaculata as well as Stockton and Wesley.

Each participating team sells HEADstrong T-Shirts on their campus. To date the Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic has raised approximately $425,000 towards The HEADstrong Foundation’s mission of elimination of blood cancers.

To drive home the HEADstrong Mission, and to allow each team to experience the importance of their hard work, each team will be assigned a HEADstrong Honorary Captain – someone currently dealing with blood cancer. The Honorary Captains will be part of the team for the day, and will serve to inspire them, with their relentless courage.

A special HEADStrong presentation will be held at 2:10 p.m. each day. Also, a Relentless 27 Alumni Game will be played Saturday at 6 p.m. All area post-high school layers, college players, club players and lacrosse coaches are invited to participate.

A “Requested Minimum Donation” of $25.00 gets participants into the game with a reversible HEADstrong pinnie. The first 54 players to respond will divided up to field two 27-man teams for this spirited light contact event. Please contact Event Coordinator Casey O’Rourke at orourke.a.c@gmail.com to reserve a roster spot.

Single day general admission to the tournament will be $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for children 12 and under, and free for children 5 and under. A Two-Day Pass is available for $15.00 for Adults, and $7.00 for Children 12 and under.
