Perkiomen Valley twins Kevin and Ryan Krasley have committed to play Division III lacrosse at Lebanon Valley College this year.

Kevin (goalie) and Ryan (defenseman) helped the Vikings reach the Pioneer Athletic Conference and District 1 playoffs in 2010. Both earned Second Team PAC-10 honors and played club lacrosse for Black Bear Montgomery County.

They will be joined at LVC by PV teammate Bryan Cooney (midfielder).

Both Krasleys said a big draw to LVC was coach John Haus, the former North Carolina and Johns Hopkins mentor who was hired when Lebanon Valley re-launched lacrosse last year. The Dutchmen went 2-13 in their first season of play since 1985.

“The reason I chose Lebanon Valley is because it is a small school and I found out they were restarting up a lacrosse program,” said Ryan Krasley, who is majoring in Criminal Justice and wants to be a police officer. “With it being the second year of lacrosse at

LVC, I figured I had a good shot to play all four years.

“Having coach Haus as a coach was also an eye opener for me. I figured this was a once- in-a-lifetime thing being coached by a guy who has a great background history of lacrosse. LVC is also close to home.”

Krasley was happy to re-establish himself during his senior year and help the Vikes finish 12-7 overall. He missed his junior year after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. He was an Honorable mention all-league pick as a sophomore.

“I was able to come back strong,” he said. “We went to playoffs for the first time in three years and we also matched the best record in PV history. It was a fun year and a memory that will never be forgotten.”

Kevin Krasley chose LVC for similar reasons.

“Ryan and I researched and found out that they are restarting up their lacrosse program and thought it would be a great opportunity,” said Krasley, who also played on the Black Bear All-Star team and was named team MVP his junior and senior years. “We knew that Coach Haus was taking the coaching position and we knew we could learn a lot from him.

“The school is also close enough for my parents make every game because they love to watch us play.”

Kevin also is considering Criminal Justice as well as Business as a major.

He said the 2010 season was a success.

“Looking back on it I think our team did very well making it to district playoffs,” he said. “I feel like we could have gone farther in the playoffs, but we played our best and fought hard the whole season to get a chance with that opportunity.

“I will miss playing with my teammates; six kids in my senior class are playing at the college level. It will be exciting to play against them at the next level.”

Also playing college lacrosse from PV will be defenseman Joe Scenna (Robert Morris, defenseman), T.J. Tagg (midfielder, King’s) and Justin Morgan (Stevens, attackman

).
