Women’s recruit: North Penn rising senior midfielder Hauck commits to Temple

North Penn rising senior midfielder Macie Hauck has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Temple University.

Hauck was a Third Team Suburban One Continental Conference pick and a co-captain last spring

North Penn's Macie Hauck has committed to Temple

for a Maidens team (19-4 overall) that won the league title and advanced to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) championships.

Hauck, who plays club lacrosse for Ultimate Goal, collected 29 goals. 28 draw controls and 29 groundballs. She also has the winning goal in am 11-10 win over Conestoga that gave North Penn the seventh and final District 1 berth in the PIAA tourney,

Hauck, an Honor Roll student, plans to major either in Hospitality and Management or Sports Marketing.

“I was kind of looking for a bigger school and I liked that it was in the city where there is a lot to do,” she said. “I liked the campus and it’s close to home.”

Hauck will play for Temple coach Bonnie Rosen, a Harriton grad and former Virginia great who will be inducted into the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame this fall.

Hauck, who played for the Philly 2 team at the National Tournament in May, also plays field hockey and was a First Team Suburban One pick last year.

Hack said hard work has helped North Penn remain successful. The Maidens have won four straight conference titles and are the only team from the Suburban One to reach the PIAA tourney both years its been held.

“Last season we worked really hard,” said Hauck.”We did lose a lot of seniors the year before, but players still stepped up.

“Coach (Jamie) Wilus is dedicated to making us better.”

Hauck is the third Philly girl to commit to Temple from the rising senior class; the others are Abington’s Carli Fitzgerald (midfielder) and Molly Seefried (attack).
