Archbishop Carroll rising senior goalie Nora McGeever has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University.

McGeever was an honorable mention Catholic League pick this year for the Patriots, who won their 10th straight league crown and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) tournament, where they fell to state finalist Springfield-Delco, 12-11.

McGeever, who plays club lacrosse for the Phantastix, plans to major in Marketing at the City Line college.

“I wanted to play at a competitive level at Division I and I like that it’s local; it’s basically down the street for me,” she said. “The campus is so beautiful and since I was little I always wanted to go to St. Joe’s. It’s special for me to go there.”

McGeever joins midfielders Hannah Schmitt (Loyola) and Alyssa DiBona (Brown) as rising seniors that have committed to Division I colleges.

McGeever, who also has lettered in soccer and basketball at Carroll, split the duties in goal last year with sophomore Katie Boyle. McGeever expects Carroll to again challenge at the state level.

“It was probably one of most fun seasons out of all my years at Carroll,” she said. “We played as a team the whole year and we competed with every team in our non-league games.

“The loss to Springfield was a tough loss, but it was a great year and overall I think we can compete next year as well as we did this year.”
