Tommy Hannum, the head coach at Downingtown West, had an assist to help the Quiksilver Elder Statesmen defeat the defending champion Millennium/Rock-it Pocket, 9-7, Tuesday in the finals of the Supermasters division at the 2010 Vail Shootout.

Hannum was joined on the team by fellow Radnor residents Gary Martin (former Philadelphia Wings star) and Tommy Dwyer. The Elder Statesmen, the Hobart Alumni team, fell to Millennium in the finals last year, 12-11.

Team Heather Leigh Albert (HLA) – with a number of players from Philly – will meet the Heroes today in the Gold championship game (2 p.m. Eastern time) of the Women’s High School U-19 division.

The HLA team features four players from the state championship team at Radnor – Kelyn Freedman, Allie Martin, Courtney Campbell and Alyssa Dunlap – as well as Taylor Trimble (Episcopal Academy) and Courtney Caputo (Springside School), and is being coached by Radnor assistant Brooke Fritz and St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes’ (Va.) coach Cathy Jenkins.

HLA advanced to the finals with an easy 16-6 victory over Granite State.
