The Twist Lacrosse White Team, comprised of rising sophomores and rising freshmen, captured the High School Rising Division Championship at the Lehigh Laxfest last weekend.
Twist went 4–0 in pool play, defeating Brotherhood U16 (NJ), Trilogy (NJ), LI
Express North (NY) and LI Pride (NY) in Group play. Twist allowed just three goals in the process to earn a bye to the finals.
The Championship game paired Twist against LI Express Central, the top LI Express team – consisting of players from St. Anthony’s, Chaminade, Garden City and Manhasset – which had entered the finals by defeating Ward Melville in the semis. After a close first half which ended with Twist leading 4–2, Twist pulled away for a decisive 8–3 victory.
Sean Coleman (La Salle) and Travis Chou (Haverford School) led Twist in scoring. The defense, which only gave up six goals over five games, was led by defensemen Pete Donovan (Central Bucks East), Hayes Nolte (Germantown Academy), and Josh Rosenblum (CB East), longstick middies Sean Delaney (Wissahickon) and Patrick Dignan (New Hope-Solebury), and goalie Brian “Goo” Zappala (Episcopal Academy).
