Temple freshman midfielder Stephany Parcell (Interboro) has been named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 11, 2010. The award is the second of Parcell’s career.

Parcell came off the bench to score four goals in Temple’s 18-17 win against Duquesne on April 11, including the game-winner with one minute left in the first half. She added three more goals in the second half including the final goal for the Owls. The midfielder also scored twice in Temple’s 12-8 win at St. Bonaventure on Friday and recorded a draw control and caused turnover in that victory. Her scoring performances rank her fourth on the team with 14 goals this season.

West Chester’s Haines (Great Valley) is PSAC East Player of the Week

West Chester senior midfielder Nicole Haines (Great Valley) is this week’s PSAC East Player of the Week after helping the Golden Rams to a pair of wins over ranked teams last week

Haines scored a total of six goals and recorded two assists for eight points in two West Chester overtime wins over ranked opponents last week, helping the Golden Rams remain undefeated on the season. Her goals included a game-winner in overtime in one of those contests.

In a 12-11 overtime win over No. 8 Dowling, she scored five goals, including the game-winner in overtime, and also posted two assists. She then scored one goal in the Golden Rams’ 11-10 double overtime win over Gannon. On the week, Haines also picked up two ground balls and secured a draw control.

Lock Haven junior attack Berger (Springfield-Montco) is PSAC West Player of Week

Lock Haven junior attack Allison Berger (Springfield-Montco) was named the PSAC West Player of the Week after she recorded a total of 15 points on four goals and 11 assists in a 2-0 week for Lock Haven. She also scooped up two ground balls on the week.

Berger started the week with a goal and four assists in Lock Haven’s 17-15 win over Gannon. Her lone goal was the game-winner as she broke a 15-15 tie with just 19 seconds remaining in the game to help lift to Lady Eagles to the win.

She then scored three goals and dished out a season-high seven assists in a 25-5 win over Kutztown. Berger currently leads Lock Haven in assists and is also among the PSAC leaders in assists.

Denver’s Harman (Boyertown) is MPSF Player of the Week

University of Denver lacrosse sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Harman (Boyertown) was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week, the MPSF announced.

Harman helped Denver remain unbeaten in MPSF play and take sole possession of first place last week, as the Pioneers defeated UC Davis and No. 11 Stanford, both of which were undefeated in the MPSF entering the games.

Harman recorded a career-high 16 saves against the Cardinal on April 11, the most by a DU goalkeeper since 2005.

In a 17-7 win over UC Davis on April 9, Harman made four saves and allowed just six goals, while also adding her first career assist on a long pass to Tulley Stapp, who never broke stride on her way to the goal.

Starting all 14 games for DU this season, Harman increased her save percentage to .446, which is second in the MPSF, and is now 10-4 overall and 4-0 in the MPSF. Harman’s 9.25 goals against average ranks first in the MPSF and 24th in the nation.
