Neshaminy senor midfielder/attackman Chris Brady has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Salisbury University.
Brady, a four-year starter, was a Suburban One National Conference second-team pick last year who has averaged more than 30 goals per season. He played for the Philly team in the Under Armour Underclassmen Games in 2008.
Brady plans to major in Business and study either marketing or management. He also is excited to play for coach Jim Berkman and a program that has won five of the past seven Division III national championships.
“I like how coach Berkman does things and I think my skills on the field will translate into how they run their offense,” said Brady. “They are high-paced and they move the ball well and score a lot of goals.
“They play to the highest level in their division and it’s exciting to have an opportunity to win a championship.”
Brady also has played club lacrosse for rebel Elite and Arrowhead. He also was the Fab 40 MVP at the Top Star camp last summer.
“Chris is the first player in our program’s history to start every game since his freshman year,” Neshaminy coach Josh Hanlon said. “He is a very versatile attack/midfielder.
“Chris has been an important staple to our program and the success we have had on the field. He has a high lacrosse IQ and opens up a lot of options for our offense. He has been heavily relied upon to produce since his freshman year. It has been a pleasure seeing him mature on the field throughout his career.”
Brady, who normally plays attack but is primarily a midfielder this year and has 19 goals, is hoping his Falcons can continue to improve. The team is 3-3 overall after a big 7-6 win over Council Rock South.
“We’re trying to work hard and come together,” Brady said. “I think we’re better than how we’ve been playing, but we’re starting to see successes in little areas.”
