The Neumann University women’s lacrosse team opened its 2010 season with a 10-9 win over Methodist Tuesday afternoon as Tiffany Baker scored the game-winner with just five seconds left in regulation for her second goal of the afternoon.

Alex Bohen (Upper Merion) and Colleen Finnegan each had three goals and two assists for five points in the game. Lauren Frampton (Interboro) added two goals. Kathleen Sinclair (Unionville) had five saves in goal.

The game was close the entire afternoon, as the largest lead was two goals. Methodist held a 4-3 advantage at halftime.

The Knights took their first lead of the second half, 9-8, when Bohen scored with 1:12 on the clock. Methodist tied the game with 22 seconds remaining, but that just set up Baker scoring the winning goal with five seconds remaining.

Randolph-Macon 15, Widener 8

Widener (1-1) lost in Ashland, VA., despite four goals and five draw controls from senior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby). Jen Harnden scored twice for the Pride while Julia Costello (Cardinal O’Hara) and Calina Walz each tallied one
