College wrap: Chestnut Hill men have first game postponed due to snow

The start of the first season of lacrosse for Chestnut Hill College will be delayed for more than a week.

The Griffins, slated to debut Saturday at Neumann University, has postponed the content. No makeup date has been released.

Chestnut Hill College, coached by Richard Carrington, will now open on March 9 at Dominican College in an East Coast Conference game. The Griffins are scheduled to make their home opener March 11 against American International College. Two days later the Griffins will host power New York Institute of Technology in an ECC contest.

Villanova women postpone opener

With a severe winter storm expected to hit the Philadelphia area, the Villanova women’s lacrosse team has made two changes to its schedule.

Thursday’s home opener versus Bryant University has been postponed. Instead of hosting the Bulldogs, Villanova will travel to Bryant on Saturday. Game time in Smithfield, R.I. is set for 3 p.m.

Villanova has also made a change to its Fresno State game. Originally scheduled for Sunday, the game will now be played on Monday at Villanova Stadium at 4:30 p.m.

Thursday’s Game

North Carolina 11, Navy 4

Chris Layne (Malvern Prep) scooped one groundball for the No. 4 Tar Heels (4-0) in their win over the host Middies (1-2). Michael Hirsch (Perkiomen Valley) had three groundballs for No. 16 Navy (1-2) and Marty Gallagher (Haverford School) had a groundball and a turnover.
