Penncrest senior midfielder Adam Yee has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Hartford.

Yee helped the Lions finish 9-9 last year while advancing to the District 1 tournament. Yee tallied 27 goals and 13 assists and last summer competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association Showcase before making the Senior “Fab Forty” at the Philly Lacrosse Showcase in November. He also plays for the Duke’s Lacrosse Club.

Yee plans to major in a Pre-Law major of Political Science and Government at Hartford, which is actually located in West Hartford, Conn. He will join fellow Philly senior recruits Andrew Cacchio (Holy Ghost Prep) and Tate Klidonas (Emmaus).

“They’re an up and coming program and the campus is beautiful,” Yee said. “I love the town of West Hartford and it (the campus) is accessible to the city.”

Yee said he has high expectations for himself.

“I am looking to be a lawyer and then become a U.S. Representative,” he said. “It (politics) is open to anyone. Ever since I was little, I have been surpassing expectations; what better way to do it than to change the world and our country for the better?”

Yee, who is on the Honor Roll this year, also played safety for the Lions’ football team in the fall.

In 2009 the Lions had key wins early over Unionville and Downingtown West, before bowing to Unionville in the district playoffs. Yee is confident Penncrest’s team concept will lead the team back to the playoffs as the team gears for the start of official practice for the 2010 season.

“We have great chemistry and we all want to win,” he said. “We are working together, not relying on individuals. I noticed the other day that for the first time everyone was in the weightroom. I am ecstatic for the season.”
