Santa Fe Christian (Cal.) senior Matt Kenyon has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Eastern University.
Kenyon is one of three players from San Diego and one of four from the West to commit to the St. David’s program. He will join Westview’s Brendan Booth and Mt. Carmel’s David Darling from California and Westwood’s Ryan Cassidy of Texas.
A 5-foot-11, 180-pound defenseman, Kenyon has started on Santa Fe Christian’s back line since his freshman season.
“He’s just a solid close defensive player,” Santa Fe Christian head coach Danny Kolts said. “He’s got good footwork, and he’s a hard worker. He’s always in the gym working out. He’s a strong leader on the field.”
Kolts said he thinks Kenyon will excel at the college level.
“I think he’ll make a really good transition, because he’s a hard worker,” Kolts said. “He’s going to do what it takes.”
