Pottsgrove High School is mourning the loss of two students – one a standout lacrosse player – that were killed Monday night in a two-car accident on Rt. 724 in Chester County’s East Coventry Township, police have confirmed.
Andrew Case, 17, a junior member of the Falcons’ team, and Michael Cantamaglia, 16, died in the accident that occurred at 9 p.m., police said
Police said six teenagers were in a 2005 Honda SUV when it crossed into oncoming traffic, went up an embankment, rolled over, and then crashed into an oncoming Nissan sedan. Case and Cantamaglia were pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.
The other four teens in the vehicle were taken to Reading Hospital and the driver of the car struck by the SUV, a 22-year-old woman, was treated and released, police said. One of the injured teens has been released from the hospital; the condiition of the other victims was not known.
According to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Case played club lacrosse for the Pottstown Vipers and the Philadelphia Youth Lacrosse All-Stars and was hoping to play college lacrosse. Cantamaglia enjoyed playing soccer, the report said.
Funeral arrangements have not been released.
