Former Brophy Prep (AZ) defenseman Alexander Blonsky has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania.

Blonsky, a senior, was one of the top defenders in Arizona before he transferred to national high school powerhouse Georgetown Prep (Md.) after his sophomore season.

Before leaving for the East Coast, Blonsky helped lead Brophy Prep to two state titles, in 2007 and 2008. Blonsky has also played club lacrosse with the Arizona Starz and West Coast Starz.

In 2009, Blonsky was a key member of the Georgetown Prep squad that went 20-3 and handed PA two-time state champion La Salle a 7-6 defeat on May 5. Another Hoya victory came on April 18 when GP defeated Duxbury (Mass.) at the inaugural “Checking for Cancer” Invitational at The Haverford School.
