Four Philly women are among 64 players trying out this weekend for spots on the 2009-10 U.S. World Cup Developmental team at UMBC.
The four include attack Jenna Martino (St. Joseph’s rising senior), midfielders Cara Filippelli (Loyola rising junior, Archbishop Carroll), Nicole Musto (Drexel rising senior) and defender Marie McKenna (2009 Princeton graduate, Penn Charter).
The 64 players were chosen from the US Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament in May. The team will be announced at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Five weeks ago the U.S. women’s national team claimed the gold medal in the 2009 FIL World Cup in Prague with a victory over defending champion Australia.
