Men’s recruit: Lower Merion rising senior Wolf excited about commitment to Duke University

Jordan Wolf, a rising senior at Lower Merion, has made a verbal commitment to Duke University for 2010-11.

Wolf was a first-team All-Central League and All-Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association pick, and an All-American. He is impressed not only with Duke’s dynamic lacrosse program under coach John Danowski, but also with the school’s focus on academics.

“Duke is one of the top schools in the country, which is the first reason why I looked there,” Wolf said. “School comes first. The lacrosse program also has a rich tradition of success and I hope to contribute to win its first national championship.”

Wolf is looking forward to collaborating with Coach Danowski and admires his “philosophy of balancing lacrosse, school and life.” While undecided on a major, Wolf knows that he wants to narrow his athletic focus to lacrosse.

“I’m most excited for competing at a higher level and really focusing on one sport rather than in the past when I was torn in many different directions,” said Wolf, who also starred in soccer and ice hockey at Lower Merion.

Wolf had 39 goals and 48 assists this past season, a record that reflects his determination to succeed. He will attend Duke along with fellow rising senior long pole Henry Lobb (Malvern Prep). Two recent Philly grads, Malvern Prep’s Billy Conners (defenseman) and Haverford School’s Dan Wigrizer (goalie), also signed with Duke and begin there in the fall.

Wolf also helped the Philadelphia Under Armour Underclassmen team placed third at Towson University last month. This summer, he is playing on the Duke’s Lacrosse Club.
